What is TFL — and why do designers specify it?
TFL is thermally fused laminate — European textured laminate, the surface EGGER is known for, alongside other decorative faced-panel directions such as CLEAF. The decorative layer is fused directly to the board core under heat and pressure with deep-texture press plates, producing woodgrain you can feel, wear resistance that outlasts paint, and color that never varies panel to panel. It is not the flat “melamine” of decades past — that word describes the cheap, low-pressure version. Modern European kitchens, including most of the $30,000-plus customs in San Diego, are specified in TFL because it performs.

What's the difference between TFL and melamine?+
They start from the same chemistry, but the execution is different. TFL — thermally fused laminate, the European textured laminate — is fused to the board core under heat and pressure with deep-texture press plates, which is why Egger and Cleaf surfaces carry realistic woodgrain texture, superior wear resistance, and consistent color. The word 'melamine' usually refers to the flat, low-pressure version from decades past. Designers specify TFL; the confusion is the vocabulary, not the material.
Why frameless?+
Frameless (European) construction removes the face frame, so you get roughly 10 to 15 percent more usable interior space, full-overlay doors with clean reveals, and drawers that use the cabinet's full width. It's the standard in European kitchens because it wastes nothing.
What hardware do you use?+
Blum soft-close hinges and runners as standard, with Blum LEGRABOX drawer systems on the Best tier, and Hettich systems where a spec calls for them. Hardware is where cheap kitchens fail first, so it's the one place we never trade down.
What's the lead time?+
About 3 weeks from approved design to installation. Cabinets are built to order in our production facility and delivered and installed in San Diego by our own crew.
Do you install, or just deliver boxes?+
We install. Every kitchen is measured, built to order, delivered, and installed by our crew under one contract. No boxes on a curb, no third-party installer pointing at the manufacturer.
What's the warranty?+
Cabinet boxes and surfaces are covered against manufacturing defects, and Blum hardware carries the manufacturer's own lifetime warranty. Warranty terms are written into your contract — ask us for the current document and we'll walk you through exactly what's covered.
