San Diego Flooring Installation & Hardwood Refinishing

  1. 01 · Preparation: A beautiful floor starts below the surface. We begin with the floor you have: measuring, checking the visible subfloor, and planning the layout before the first plank goes down.
  2. 02 · Layout: The first line sets the entire room. Pattern, alignment, and transitions are established early so every course has a clear direction.
  3. 03 · Installation: Plank by plank, the pattern takes shape. The floor grows in sequence—not as one sheet—so the fit and herringbone geometry stay deliberate.
  4. 04 · Finish: The room comes together from the floor up. Walnut herringbone adds warmth and movement across the finished space.

Before anyone works in your home

Know who is responsible.

Flooring problems often start below the surface. Our structure keeps responsibility with one licensed local company instead of passing it between installers and contractors.

Straight answers

Questions people ask before the estimate.

Still unsure? Text a photo or call. You do not need to know the flooring terminology first.

Call (858) 336-5581
How much does the in-home estimate cost?

Nothing. We come to your home, measure, look at the subfloor and the condition of what is there now, and provide a written, itemized estimate. There is no pressure to decide on the spot.

Should I choose solid or engineered hardwood?

It depends on your subfloor, moisture conditions, and whether you want to refinish in the future. Solid hardwood can be refinished many times; quality engineered wood is more dimensionally stable over concrete or in coastal humidity. We recommend based on the house, not a one-size-fits-all answer.

Can you match new flooring to the wood I already have?

Often, yes. Species, plank width, grade, color, and sheen all affect the match. We can discuss whether a selective tie-in or refinishing the connected areas together will give the more convincing result.

Is dustless refinishing completely dust-free?

No process is 100% dust-free. Dust-containment sanding captures the vast majority of dust at the equipment, creating dramatically less mess than traditional sanding.

Who actually performs the work?

Tidal Flooring is Swell Contracting's flooring division. Your project runs under our C-15 flooring license and is backed by our B general contractor license, with one local company accountable for the work.

Where do you install flooring?

We work across San Diego County, including La Jolla, Del Mar, Encinitas, Coronado, Carlsbad, Rancho Santa Fe, and the surrounding communities. Text your ZIP code if you want to confirm service before scheduling.
